Toles and Utley Drive the Dodgers Pass The Cubs

Toles and Utley tarnished the Cubs’ ring ceremony last night.  Despite the windy conditions, Toles and Utley hit two home runs that put the Dodgers over the Cubs.  Brandon McCarthy and the bullpen kept up their end by keeping the Cubs Scoring.  The Dodgers won the game in 2-0.

Hyun-Rin Jyu will be going against the Cubs’ Brett Anderson.

The Kings Promoted Two After Letting Two Go

After the AEG let Darryl Sutter and Dean Lombardi, Jon Rosen of LA Kings reported that the Kings promoted Luc Robitaille to President of the Kings and Rob Blake to Vice President and General Manager.

“This restructuring of the front-office will establish a single leader of the organization that will provide a unified vision, focus and alignment between the team side and the business side,” President and CEO of AEG Dan Beckerman said in a statement. “It mirrors the same structure we recently implemented with the LA Galaxy and it will not only enable the integration of these two sides of the club into a single organization but will bring symmetry between the Kings and Galaxy.”(Exert from Jon Rosen’s article on Robitaille and Blake’s promotions.)

The Rams Sign Former Bills And USC DB

Myles Simmons of the Rams Insider reported that the Rams have sign Bills’ DB, Nickell Robey-Coleman.

He racked three interceptions in 2016 as well five sacks and play at his position he allowed a 74.86 passer rating.

Before joining the Bills as undrafted free agent, he played for the USC Trojan where he achieved  All -Pac-10  honorable mention.

LA Rams Release Their Preseason Schedule

The Rams released the preseason schedule.  The open up their preseason against the Cowboys who they played last year.  Their schedule also includes on Thursday Night Game.

Despite Come Back Effort by The Dodgers, The Cubs Walk Away with A Win

After giving up two early runs to the Cubs, the Dodgers came back to tie the game.  The Cubs broke that tie in the bottom of the ninth when Jon Jay scored off Anthony Rizzo’s single to left field. The Cubs win the game 3-2.

Alex Wood started the game but lasted only 3.2 innings before Ross Stripling replaced him. Sergio Romo gets the loss while Wade Davis gets the win for the Cubs.

The Dodgers and Cubs go at it again today.  Brandon McCarthy(1,0) will be on the mound for the Dodgers against John Lackey.

The Los Angeles Kings Fired Both GM and Head Coach After Disappointing Season

Jonathan Larivee of Hockey Feed has just reported from a report written by AP’s Stephen Whyno that the Kings have fired GM Dean Lombardi and head coach Daryl Sutter.

Both Lombardi and Sutter were responsible for the Kings’ two Stanley Cup wins, but after early exits from the playoffs and not making the playoffs this year, the team had to let them go.

The Rams Add Two More Players

The Rams remain active during this year’s period of free agency by adding more players.  Yesterday, they add center John Sullivan who played for Rams head coach Sean McVay at Washington. Now today they sign LB/DE Carlos Thompson.

Sullivan was drafted by the Vikings in 2009.  He played for them until 2014.  He spent 2015 out of football because of a back injury. He signed with Washington in 2016 after being released by the Vikings. This information comes from the Associated Press.

Carlos Thompson

Former Texan  LB/DE Carlos Thompson   Photo


Thompsom played for one season for the Texans in 2015.  He signed with the team as a undrafted free agent and played in two games and made two tackles. He was released in August of 2016.

The Dodgers Come Out 3-1 Winners Over the Padres

Dodgers beat the Padres with runs scored by Yasiel Puig, Corey Seager, and Adrian Gonzalez. Dodgers’ starting pitcher Rich Hill held the Padres scoreless for four innings.

The two will face each other again in their last game of the series tonight.  Brandon McCarthy will be on the mound for the Dodgers, and he will face Jered  Weaver.
